With interior trends coming and going, it can be difficult to know what is trending and what is not.
To get to the bottom of what is trending, real estate company Ruby Home Luxury Real Estate decided to take a closer look at the most Instagrammable interior trends, figuring that the styles consumers love most are the ones they share on social media.
“Instagram is a great platform to take interior inspiration from and to see how other people are decorating their homes,” said a spokesperson for Ruby Home Luxury Real Estate in a release. “These findings show us that despite how often trends change, staple interior trends remain popular.”
Research on the topic commissioned by Ruby Home was done by analyzing some of the most popular trends, looking at variations of the hashtag on Instagram and totaling the number of posts.
Topping the list as the most popular trend on Instagram was farmhouse, with 4.82 million posts. Combining simple, practical and rustic features, there are many ways of incorporating the farmhouse trend into the home.
Right behind farmhouse was rustic with 4.77 million posts. Rustic interior style is laid back and easy, with many natural features, including wooden beams and stone, that create a warm and inviting atmosphere.
Rounding out the top five interior trends were neutral at nearly 3 million posts, hygge at nearly 2.4 million posts and shabby chic also with nearly 2.4 million posts.
In sixth and seventh place, with just over 1 million posts each, were terrazzo, a popular flooring trend, and minimalist with its simple and uncluttered style.
Rounding out the top 10 trends were mid-century modern, industrial and black interiors in eight, ninth and tenth place, respectively.
