Tampa logistics firm buys three Dutch companies

Quala and Boasso Global, a Tampa-based global provider of services for the tank-trailer and tank-container industry, acquired three tank-cleaning companies from Matrans Holding BV, headquartered in Rotterdam, Netherlands.

The terms of the sale were not disclosed in a Wednesday news release.

With more than 3,400 employees worldwide, Quala and Boasso Global work as a service provider in a logistics sector that involves the shipping of bulk liquids and foodstuffs, ranging from whiskey, beer, wine and cooking oils to water treatment products and automotive lubricants.

The three Dutch companies, known as MTC, are a leading tank-cleaning and tank-container depot service business.

Quala and Boasso Global CEO Scott Harrison says MTC managing director Eric van Halewijn will be staying on with Quala and Boasso Global “to ensure a smooth transition, but also add strength to our talented operating team in Europe.”

MTC offers ISO tank-container services including cleaning, storage, repair and maintenance, and heating and testing.

Quala and Boasso Global have been growing by acquisition of late, starting with a February merger of Boasso Global Inc. and Q Super Holdings Inc., parent company of Quala. The two Tampa-based companies merged to create one of the leading infrastructure services entities for the liquid bulk logistics industry.

Quala had specialized in liquid bulk-container cleaning and maintenance services, including tank trailer, ISO tank container, rail-car and IBC cleaning. Boasso was a leading provider of mission‐critical infrastructure services for the ISO tank container industry in North America and Europe.

With the Dutch acquisition, Quala and Boasso Global will operate through a bigger network of more than 160 facilities strategically located near major manufacturing and transportation hubs throughout the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Germany, France, and Spain, say company officials.
