Of course there are lots of ready-made 4th of July decorations for sale at stores across the country right now, but this is also a lovely time of the year to get everyone at home involved in simple diy decorations: for the most part all you need is some red, white and blue paint and something nifty to paint on!

And don’t worry if you’re not too into design, the good news is that we’ve collected a few of our favorite and inspirational 4th of July decor ideas below to help you get into the spirit!

Happy 4th of July everyone!

patriotic exterior

What a fantastically pretty house! This traditional Victorian home is made even lovelier with the stars and stripes bunting and Uncle Sam décor items.

porch1

For a more paired back, but just as patriotic look, simple flags can be used to frame the porch area – swagging them around the pillars is an elegant touch.

porch2

Another similarly decorated porch, with a few stars and stripes accents in the soft furnishings and tableware to complete the look.

porch3

These pillar flags are simply fabulous – bold and classy at the same time, and beautifully paired with that red, white and blue starred cushion.

porch4

A bucket full of beer chilling on the porch, and the national flag hung in the background – sounds like the perfect place to start a party.

porch5

This porch is patriotic all year round – even though it’s not specifically referring to the Stars and Stripes, the red, white and blue décor accents give a ready-made party atmosphere.

porch6

Love the little crate in the corner here that has been given a patriotic makeover! A simple way to add some 4th of July flavor to your décor.

patriotic she-shed

A huge American flag festoons the inside wall of this gorgeous she-shed – a lovely place for a moment’s quiet contemplation before the party gets started!

patriotic flowerbed

This superb 4th of July idea might take a little forward planning – unless you can find already flowering plants that you can pop straight in to an empty flowerbed!

patriotic exterior lights

If you’re planning on celebrating well into the evening, then consider getting some patriotic exterior lights to add to your decorations.

bunting

This pretty, colorful bunting can be used for celebrations anytime of year – if you’re handy with a sewing machine, it’s a fairly simple DIY job with a few scraps of fabric and ribbon.

wood flag

Love this easy as anything wooden flag idea – all you need is a few strips of wood, some nails, some paint and a steady hand for the stars! Simple but very effective!

flag jars1

One for the kids: create this bold and beautiful center piece arrangement for your 4th of July dinner table with three painted mason jars jam packed with pretty blooms.

patriotic table1

A simple calico tablecloth has been “4th of July-ed” with a nifty star stencil kit, and complemented with ready-made celebratory tableware and table décor. Love it!

patriotic table2

If the 4th of July for you equals a romantic dinner for two eating tons of lobster, then take inspiration from this charmingly arranged table – a careful selection of red and blue fabrics and metallic décor stars gives a nod to 4th of July celebrations without going all-out.

patriotic table3

But if you do want to go full-on with your 4th of July decor, then this is the table for you: fantastically arranged with all kinds of red, white and blue tableware. The start-shaped entrée plates are fabulous!

hallway flag

Sometimes the best designs are the boldest: greeting your party guests in this hallway decorated with an immense Stars and Stripes will certainly set the tone for the celebrations ahead!

patriotic mantel

And for a more toned-down elegant and charming look, then this home-made collection of patriotic artwork, wreath and bunting might be for you.

patriotic doily

If you don’t have any spare red, white and blue fabric around to make bunting, don’t despair! Simply use colored paper to create some, like this super effective doily-style pattern.

patriotic wreath

And finally, don’t you just love this sweet little patriotic door wreath? A beautiful door decoration.
